Entity Attachment: The Dark Side of Meditation

This entry is part 3 of 11 in the series soline:Bride of Shadows(EN)

“Soline, you never thought this was an entity attachment, did you? You had no idea how dangerous those mantras were. ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ — that mantra opened the door to demonic beings. You’re a Christian. What business do you have with Buddhist idols?” Ali said.

Ali, I had never thought about any of this. Had those shadow beings that attacked me really come through the mantras? It turns out there was a name for it: entity attachment. A being latching onto you, taking hold of you.

Morning came. The first light of the sun fell on my face. The bad energy of the night still clung to me.

I’m Soline. Also known as the Bride of Shadows.

How can a person turn their own life into a nightmare with their own hands? My life is the best example of exactly that.

We had all slept in the living room. The night before, terrified of the shadow beings, my mother and I wanted to sleep there together.

Ali! My dear Ali. My mother and I slept comfortably on the couches. But he kept watch the entire night, never sleeping. Now he was asleep in the chair.

The man had guarded me the whole night, exhausted himself, and never slept.

But I felt this urge to tease him. I had missed him so much — I hadn’t seen him in nearly four years.

Lipstick in hand, I moved to put makeup on him.

Just as the lipstick touched his lips, he caught my wrist.

Honestly, does this man ever sleep? He caught me red-handed.

“You just can’t behave, can you? I spent the whole night dealing with those shadow beings, protecting you. And here you are trying to put makeup on me. What kind of girl are you! Yesterday you were crying, and today you’re up to mischief like nothing happened,” Ali said.

“What can I say! You’re just so sweet, I want to bite you and eat you up. I can’t help wanting to tease you, to pinch your cheeks,” I said.

My mother woke up. “What’s going on with you two this early, what’s all this noise?” she said.

My mother went to the kitchen.

Ali chased after me.

“You can’t catch me,” I said, ducking behind the couch.

Is it even possible to escape Ali? He caught me instantly, like a spider.

He grabbed me by the back of the neck and marched me to the bathroom, washed my face.

“Cleanliness comes from faith. Let’s wash your face, wash away the grime of the night, let some light come to your face. Now go stand in the corner on one foot — you’re grounded until breakfast is ready,” Ali said.

Oh my God! As if that wasn’t enough, he pulled out the handle of the floor brush. Every time I put my foot down, he’d tap my backside with it.

Doesn’t hurt one bit, but the man is merciless 😆

Breakfast was set. My mother and Ali sat at the table, and I stood grounded in the corner 😢

The sound of a spoon stirring tea… My stomach was growling. But Ali didn’t say “come.”

He buttered his bread, eating while looking straight at me. Kept pointing at the stick beside him.

Cruel, merciless, heartless. Does he have no mercy at all. I was so hungry I felt faint. Just as I was thinking all this, he came over to me.

“I can’t bear to see you like this, baby, come here,” he said. He scooped me up, carried me to the table, sat me in a chair.

He’d buttered a piece of bread. “Open your mouth, look, here comes the airplane, come on baby, open up,” he said.

He was literally mocking me, treating me like a baby.

Breakfast wrapped up, I cleared the table. My mother was already exhausted.

“Ali, can I lean against your chest and listen to your heartbeat for a bit?” I asked.

“Fine, come here, you troublemaker,” he said, opening his arms. I always found peace against his chest — those arms were my greatest refuge.

“Soline, tell me about this meditation business,” Ali said.

So I told him. That a friend had recommended it, and that unfortunately I’d been paying high fees every month.

“So what did she give you, tell me,” Ali said.

“Incense, a training kit, a list of mantras, a strange drink,” I said.

“Why aren’t you mentioning the ayahuasca tea?” he asked.

“You know about that?” I said.

“Yes. It’s a kind of drug, a dangerous mixture. Ancient shamans used it to make contact with demonic beings, but mistook what came through for spirits. Some people who drink it hallucinate; others say a frequency opens, and they wander in demonic realms. Unfortunately, it leaves the door wide open — it’s practically an invitation to an entity attachment,” Ali said.

I fell silent, couldn’t say anything.

What Do Meditation Mantras Actually Represent?

“‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ — you’ve been chanting that mantra, haven’t you? Do you know what it means?” Ali asked.

I stayed quiet, what could I even say. I shook my head, as if to say “I don’t know.”

“These belong to Buddhism, they represent certain attributes. And do you know what it represents? The Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. This is an idol — every mantra represents an idol, and those who use them have taken these statues as gods. You’re a Christian, you believe in God/Allah.

Every time you repeat these mantras, you’re opening a frequency. Those shadow beings love these mantras. The truth is, these names belong to them — but no one knows that. So every time you chant those mantras, you’re saying ‘come on in’ to shadow beings. This is exactly how entity attachment begins — you’re issuing an invitation without even realizing it.

With mantras, they come to you. But with ayahuasca tea, you go to them — you hand over your soul as a slave on a silver platter to shadow beings. Out of ignorance, people mistake this for astral travel, when really it’s a demonic journey,” Ali said.

There was a faint edge of anger in Ali’s voice, directed at me. He was angry that I’d gotten mixed up in this trouble — I could hear it in his tone.

“Alright girl, go call that meditation instructor of yours, tell her we’re coming,” Ali said.

“But Ali, the appointment…” I started, but he cut me off.

“Forget the appointment, tell her it’s an emergency,” Ali instructed.

An hour later, we were in Alsancak. I had missed walking around with Ali, all the times, all the nights he used to come pick me up from here. I walked with my arm looped through his, after years without him around.

We arrived in front of the plaza.

“Your instructor seems to be robbing people blind — prices around here are outrageous. One of these new plazas,” Ali said.

He was right, what could I say — she was fleecing girls just like me.

“Hey! Ali, Ali! Over here!”

A woman called out with a heavy accent.

Ali turned his head to look at her.

The woman ran over with startling ease, then threw her arms around Ali. What kind of familiarity is this — who was this woman?

Red-haired, around 35, elegant, tall. Maybe the hair color was dyed. Ugh, what mischief was this? Get a grip, Soline, I told myself.

“Ali, how are you? You’ve been gone for years, you just vanished. I tried calling so many times but your phone was always off,” the redheaded woman said.

“Ali, who’s this girl? Your girlfriend?” the woman asked.

Ah, she finally bothered to notice me.

I clung tightly to Ali’s arm and answered her question myself.

“Yes, I’m his girlfriend. Who are you?” I asked, claws out like a tiger.

Ali looked startled, glanced at my face — like, what is happening.

“I’m Anastasia, an old friend of Ali’s,” the woman said.

What kind of name is that. I was practically looking for an excuse to pick a fight with this woman, even though her name was lovely. Where did she even come from.

“I was out of İzmir, Anastasia. By the way, how’s your husband?” Ali asked.

Oh, she was married. I relaxed.

We sat down at a café. They started reminiscing about the past. It turned out she was an architect, now running a design firm, doing custom-designed offices.

When she’d first come to İzmir, she hadn’t known anyone — Ali had helped her a great deal.

Most importantly, he’d even introduced her to the man she married.

“We have work to do, we should get going,” Ali said.

Then he paused for a moment, lost in thought.

“Anastasia, I need your help. Do you have a level-headed construction foreman on your team?” he asked.

“Yes I do, Ali — Kadir. You trained him yourself. When you disappeared, I took him on,” she said.

She called Kadir over.

Kadir arrived, older than Ali. But strangely, he tried to kiss Ali’s hand — despite being older than Ali, he called him “Ali abi,” older brother.

“Ali abi, you taught me every trade I know, thanks to you I can provide for my family without worry, I’ll do anything for you,” he said.

Now I understood — why he kissed his hand, why he addressed him that way. This was gratitude and respect.

Ali began to explain.

“There’s a meditation center inside. When I call you in, come inside. Say you’re going through a rough patch, that a woman recommended the place, but that you don’t have enough budget.”

Then he gave Anastasia the same instructions, with one difference: “Don’t mention your budget at all.”

Both agreed. He took their phone numbers, said “come one after the other once I text you.”

Are Meditation Instructors Trustworthy?

Finally, we were at the meditation studio. My instructor was a woman in her thirties — well-groomed, glamorous, covered in tattoos in various places. I really don’t know what I ever saw in this woman.

“Ooh, welcome Soline, how’s the meditation going, any progress?” the instructor asked.

Before I could answer, Ali spoke up.

“Going wonderfully, she’s nailing the anapanasati (breath-anchoring) phase. You’re truly an incredible teacher,” he said.

The instructor’s chest puffed up with pride.

Meanwhile, Ali had been mocking her the entire time.

Ali had texted Kadir, and right in the middle of the conversation, he arrived.

“Ali, please, go ahead and talk, we’ll wait,” the woman told the instructor.

“I’m going through a hard time, my wife left me. A female client of mine recommended you, but I don’t have much of a budget,” Kadir said.

The instructor looked Kadir up and down. He’d come straight from work — his construction clothes still covered in plaster and paint.

“Hmm, well…” she trailed off, looking at him with disdain.

“Our program isn’t really suited for you, and frankly, your budget wouldn’t cover it,” my instructor said.

“But I saw the price list on the brochure at the entrance, I can afford those numbers,” Kadir said.

“I’m sorry, we’re at full capacity, we won’t be taking anyone for a long while,” my instructor said.

Ali secretly signaled to Kadir: it’s fine, you can go.

Kadir put on a hurt expression, said “alright” with his head bowed, turned, and walked away.

Ali turned to my instructor. “Why didn’t you accept him?” he asked.

“I’m sorry, we get too much demand, we’re completely full, that’s why I turned him down,” she said.

Ten minutes later, Anastasia walked in.

She introduced herself: “I’m a Russian citizen, I’d like to take advantage of your training packages. Do you do private sessions at home? Money is absolutely no object,” she said.

My instructor’s face lit up. She practically rubbed her hands together as she moved toward Anastasia.

She sat her down like an honored guest, immediately switching into “what can I get you” mode.

They started talking. The instructor rattled off her program and her achievements, gesturing sweetly toward me, describing how she trains people.

After listening, Anastasia said “let me think it over,” excused herself, and left.

I’d already seen everything I needed to see. But Ali had no intention of showing this instructor any mercy.

“Excuse me, why did you accept that woman who just walked in? Weren’t you supposedly at full capacity, no room for anyone — isn’t that what you told that man who just left?” Ali asked.

The instructor’s face fell at those words, but she couldn’t come up with an answer.

“So-ham…

Om (aum)…

Would you explain these to me?” Ali said.

“So-ham: ‘I am that, I am not separate from the universe, I am the universe.’ Om (aum): the primordial sound of the universe,” the instructor said.

Just as she was about to elaborate further, Ali cut her off.

“What language are these in?” Ali asked.

The instructor said “I don’t know,” clearly rattled by Ali’s questions.

“These are Sanskrit words, an ancient Indian language. They come from the teaching of ‘Tat tvam asi.’ And do you know what that teaching is?” he asked.

The instructor couldn’t answer, fell silent.

“Om (aum): represents Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva — three deities. So-ham: represents Shiva and Shakti. Did you know that?” Ali asked.

“No,” the instructor answered.

Then, “I’m very busy, would you mind leaving?” she said.

“Hold on, we’ve only just started, we’re not going anywhere, be patient with us a little longer,” Ali said.

“Now listen to me carefully,” Ali said. “With these mantras, you’re saying ‘I am one with it, it is me’ to the universe, right? Do you know what I do instead? ‘My God/Allah, You created everything, I am a powerless servant before You, a speck of dust among Your creations, help me.’ You, on the other hand, are challenging God/Allah — asking for help from the very universe God/Allah created, and doing it, on top of everything, with names of fabricated idols.

Actually, I’m curious — if merging with the universe were the answer, why haven’t you found any peace?” Ali asked.

The woman started to lose her temper. “Get out,” she snapped.

“Hold on, we’ve only just started. I haven’t even settled the bill for what you did to Soline yet,” Ali said.

“Soline, tell me, how much money did this woman take you for?” Ali asked.

“Thirteen thousand euros…”

“That’s a lot of money. Go on, go to your safe and bring it here,” Ali told the instructor.

Laughing, the instructor said “are you bandits or something, is this a hideout in the mountains? Do you have any idea what power stands behind me?”

Ali laughed. “Go on then, call whatever’s behind you, let’s meet it,” he said.

“I’ve been practicing this for years, I have spiritual guides on my side, this won’t end well for you,” the instructor said.

Ali, swinging his prayer beads, said with a grin, “Good, call them, let’s get acquainted. And while we’re at it, let’s ask what’s happening in the spirit realm, who’s doing what to whom. I’m curious — will gold go up, will the dollar drop? Let’s ask that too.”

How Does Entity Attachment Show Itself During Meditation?

The instructor started murmuring something, eyes closed.

Mocking her, Ali said, “What, are your spirits walking all the way here from the spirit realm?”

The woman completely lost it.

And then, finally, they came…

Oh — it was the one who’d attacked me. The 230-year-old shadow being, the one that had hurt me. Right there, I understood exactly what this was: a real entity attachment.

“Well, look who it is. You again?” Ali said to the shadow being.

“Instructor, was it you who sent this shadow being to Soline, calling it a ‘spiritual entity’?” Ali asked.

“I helped Soline’s development with my spiritual power,” the instructor said.

“Ali, I’ll tear this woman apart, she ruined my life,” I said.

“Calm down, she doesn’t even know what she’s dealing with, she thinks it’s a spirit,” Ali said.

“So, instructor, can’t you talk to your spiritual guide anymore? Can’t quite see it? Only seeing a shadow, is that it? Here, let me help you,” Ali said.

He recited something. Then he addressed the shadow: “come out, show this instructor your true form.”

The shadow couldn’t move, stood frozen in place.

“Last time you got off with a trade. If you don’t want to make me angry, come out now,” Ali said to the shadow being again.

The shadow being revealed its true form — tall, monstrous in size, with a serpent-like face.

The instructor screamed in terror, fell backward.

“So this is what your mantras summon — this evil thing you call a spiritual guide. Now, either you hand over that thirteen thousand euros, or I leave you alone with this shadow being, and the two of you can have a deep, meaningful love affair,” Ali said.

The shadow being seemed wary of Ali. I couldn’t understand it — why would this thing fear Ali.

The shadow being had only shown its true face, and it had already broken the woman’s mind.

Trembling with fear, she made the “okay, I’ll give it” gesture with her hand.

She opened a hidden safe behind her desk — there was a huge amount of money inside.

“Take whatever amount you want, take all of it if you like,” the instructor said.

“What are you talking about, are we thieves? We’ll take exactly what Soline gave you, thirteen thousand euros, count it, hand it over, that’s it,” Ali said.

The woman handed over the money.

How Meditation Addiction and Spiritual Exploitation Destroy Lives

“Listen to me. With these practices, you’re opening a frequency straight to demonic beings. Instead of asking the universe for help, go ask God/Allah. What business do you have with Far Eastern idols, meddling in things you don’t understand — throwing women into the fire for the sake of greed,” Ali said.

“And what about that ayahuasca tea? What was that about? You sold that too, purely for money,” Ali said.

Then, turning to the being, he said, “I haven’t forgotten what you did to Soline — go disturb this woman for a few nights, let’s call our score settled.”

Then we walked out of the office, out into the street.

I was so happy — I’d gotten my money back, and the woman who’d ruined me had gotten a proper lesson. This entity attachment nightmare finally felt like it had reached some kind of resolution — though Ali had told me one thing: this kind of thing never really ends, we’d only won that day’s battle.

Oh, Anastasia was still waiting for us outside. I ran over and threw my arms around her neck to thank her.

Anastasia was startled by my sudden warmth, considering that an hour earlier I’d looked ready to strangle her out of jealousy.

“Anastasia, call your whole team, lunch is on us,” I said to her.

We took over three tables at the restaurant, thirteen of us in total.

“Ali, do you still interpret dreams?” Anastasia asked.

“Not for everyone, why do you ask?” Ali said.

“I have a friend in Saint Petersburg, her name’s Veronica. She had a strange dream, would you interpret it?” she said.

“There’s also a friend’s problem — it feels like both a dream and something real,” she added.

“What’s it about?”

“Her name is Olga. She keeps seeing the same person in her dreams, over and over — it’s made her go cold toward her boyfriend,” Anastasia said.

Ali set his food aside, lit a cigarette. After one drag, he asked two strange questions.

“In her dream, she’s constantly having some kind of physical intimacy with this person, isn’t she?

And it feels real, doesn’t it — more real than it should?”

What is entity attachment?

Entity attachment is when a non-physical being — in Soline’s story, a shadow entity — latches onto a person and begins influencing them, often without the person realizing it’s happening.

Can meditation mantras cause entity attachment?

Yes, according to Ali’s warning in the story, repeating certain mantras can open a frequency that invites entity attachment, since some mantras represent figures shadow beings are drawn to.

Is ayahuasca linked to entity attachment?

Ayahuasca is portrayed as a serious risk factor for entity attachment in the story, since the altered state it produces can leave a person’s mind open to beings mistaken for spirit guides.

How can you tell if a spiritual guide is actually entity attachment in disguise?

In Soline’s account, the “spiritual guide” her instructor claimed to channel turned out to be entity attachment — the same shadow being revealed its true monstrous form once confronted directly.

Can entity attachment be exploited by fraudulent spiritual teachers?

Yes — the story shows a meditation instructor knowingly profiting from a client’s entity attachment, charging large sums while dismissing what was actually happening as ordinary spiritual guidance.
