Ali walked up. “Nicole, what are you doing?” he said.

Ali was struggling not to laugh.

“Oh, right. They actually just called me, Nicole. There’s a message for you from the universe. Apparently you’re not getting a husband — ever” said Ali. 😂

“Oh my God/Allah, that’s exactly the kind of joke he makes first thing in the morning.” Liv, Camille, and I burst out laughing at that.

“Are you seriously making fun of me right now? I’m being serious” said Nicole.

Once Ali saw how upset Nicole was, he turned serious. Nicole sat there with her head down, clearly hurt. Ali crouched in front of her, kneeling on the grass, and gently lifted her chin with his hand.

“Nicole, don’t make that face — it doesn’t suit someone as beautiful as you. Tell me — who came up with this method in the first place?” he said.

“I never actually looked into it. I just took the training in Dubai, from a coach. Actually, some Muslim friends of mine there recommended it” said Nicole.

Esther Hicks makes contact with a group of energy beings during a mediumship session. She even gives them a name — Abraham. Afterward, these beings supposedly give her all the foundational teachings behind the manifesting methods you use today.

Up to this point, it sounds fairly ordinary. But what actually shows up in that mediumship session are demonic entities. We Muslims call them ifrit. You’d call them energy beings” said Ali.

“Oh, I heard about jinn stories from my Muslim friends back in Dubai” said Nicole.

The Entities Behind Manifestation: Jinn, or Something Demonic?

“No, Nicole, jinn and ifrit are two different things. Jinn are a lot like us. There are Muslim ones, Christian ones, jinn of every faith you can imagine. They have families, they have lives. As long as you don’t provoke them, they won’t harm you.

But ifrit are hybrid entities — part Cann, part ordinary jinn (Cann is a plasma-based being, created before jinn and humans). They’re tall, usually around three meters. They’re merciless, entirely in the service of the devil, and extremely powerful. They terrorize even jinn — a lot of Muslims mix the two up too. Soline has run into these entities more times than she can count; you can ask her yourself.

Nicole’s face went pale in an instant. Without realizing it, she pressed the drawing tighter against her chest, as if it could protect her from something.

“Anyway, these entities have a purpose. They don’t care about a person’s wellbeing. They’re always working through people they’re already attached to, feeding them different ideas and practices” said Ali.

“Okay, but what’s their purpose?” said Nicole, her voice shaking slightly.

“Their purpose is always the same: to harm people. They attack a person’s belief system. Take you, for example — you’re Christian, you practice your faith to some degree, you believe in God/Allah. Nicole, startled, said yes.

“That day, your prayer was heard, Nicole. God/Allah showed you both where you stood and how to get through it — He showed you the face you couldn’t quite make out.

That’s exactly where these entities step in. Through things like soulmate manifesting, they get you sending messages to the universe instead of praying. And there are all sorts of words and mantras involved in that, aren’t there?” said Ali.

“Yes, especially the Kleem mantra” said Nicole.

“Om Kleem Krishnaya Namah. Do you even speak Sanskrit? I mean, you’re all archaeologists, after all” said Ali.

“No, Ali — we know ancient Egyptian, hieroglyphs, Sumerian, Assyrian, Latin. Those are the ancient languages we studied” said Nicole, lowering the paper slightly onto her lap.

“I bow before the divine source of love and attraction, Lord Krishna, and I call upon his energy to bring joy, connection, and grace into my life. That’s what it means, Nicole. And specifically, that word ‘namah’ — it means *I submit, I prostrate myself, I surrender” said Ali.

Nicole sank into a deep silence, her face falling. Without noticing, her fingers began crumpling the edge of the drawing.

Ali kept talking.

“Nicole, are you and those Muslim friends of yours devoted to God/Allah, or to these idols? A Christian or a Muslim believes in one single Creator. So does it really make sense to ask a self-made idol for help when God/Allah is right there?” Ali asked.

Nicole, once again, had no answer.

“Nicole, these demonic entities specifically target people who hold to belief in one Creator — Christians, Muslims. People with that kind of faith always get harmed by this; others don’t. Would you ever hurt someone who serves you?” said Ali.

Her voice trembling, Nicole said, “I never thought about it that way. I had no idea.” It was the smallest her voice had ever sounded.

“They simply exploit people’s ignorance, their spiritual vulnerabilities. These practices make them a lot of money — and they drag the people who use them straight off a cliff.

Think about it — you draw your own picture, you send a message to the universe, you ask the universe for something. But doesn’t your own Christian faith teach that God/Allah created the universe? Does it really make sense to ask a lifeless system for something when its Creator is right there? The same logic applies to Muslims too.

Look, Nicole, that’s exactly why it never works — not once, not ever. You can light that candle, hold that drawing, repeat that mantra a thousand times — the power was never in any of it. Fate belongs to God/Allah alone. You cannot bow down to a piece of paper you drew yourself and expect it to change your fate, because the power to change it was never in that paper, that candle, or that word to begin with” said Ali.

Nicole went quiet for a moment, then asked in a whisper, “Then why do so many people do this? Why is it so tempting?”

“Because loneliness is heavy, Nicole. People want to hold onto control; they don’t want to wait. Hopelessness makes you rush. They tell you ‘you write your own destiny’ — and that sounds powerful. When you’re feeling desperate, just doing something feels like relief. But that relief is fake, because there was never any real power in your hands to begin with” said Ali.

“Nicole, it’s just a trap. Soulmate manifesting is one of a whole lineup of traps out there” said Ali.

“Soline, Bride of the Shadows — what do you think about all this?” Ali asked, turning to me.

“Wait, you actually see them? How did that even start? What do they look like?” she asked, firing off questions one after another.

“Sweetheart, those were dark days. I’d started working with a specialist on meditation, on a friend’s recommendation — to try to forget a betrayal I’d been through.

But as I went deeper into the meditation, these shadow entities started appearing. At first they were just shadows, then I started seeing their full forms clearly. They wanted to take me over. And the more I resisted, the harder they pushed me toward suicide.

My voice cracks even now, talking about it — there’s still a weight that settles on me when I go back to those days. I was so desperate that I almost destroyed myself with my own hands. And I did.”

Nicole was stunned by the details, her hand flying to her mouth.

“So — what happened after that?” Nicole asked, her voice much softer now.

“Ali had been gone a long time, I couldn’t find any trace of him anywhere. Then he just showed up again out of nowhere, and he saved me. I’ve lost count of how many times now. Ever since that day, I see those kinds of entities everywhere I go. Liv sees them too” I said.

Nicole was shocked. “Liv — you too?” she said.

Liv wasn’t one for many words.

“Yes, me too. But mine’s a bit different. I did some meditation myself, and I’d always had a fascination with mediumship. Then I started seeing black-eyed children. First in dreams, then in real life — on the street, next to my car.

But the worst of it happened right here, when I came to Soline’s house. At the garden door, two of them tried to come in at once — the black-eyed children” said Liv.

“That’s the day I met both Ali and Soline. He saved us. Now I see the same shadow entities Soline does” said Liv.

Ali smiled. “A few years back I actually came face to face with one of these entities — it tried to threaten me. I told it, ‘God/Allah gave you that power, and God/Allah gave me this faith — do your worst.’ That’s when I learned all this” he said.

“Wait, you actually challenged one of these entities?” Nicole asked.

“Sure, why not. God/Allah created them, and He created us too. The only real difference between us is that we’re solid, biological beings, and they’re made of energy — like gas. They feed off people’s weaknesses, off their sins.

I trust my own character, and I trust my faith. As long as I don’t give them an opening, they can’t stand against me. And honestly, anyone can do this — as long as their faith is strong” said Ali.

“So what happened after that?” Nicole asked.

“What do you think? It sang like a bird — that’s how I learned about this Russian mathematician’s number trick, and how dangerous it really is” said Ali.

Nicole was still holding the drawing she’d made. Ali took it from her hand to look at it.

“Hey, what’s this — did you draw me?” he teased.

“Give that back!” Nicole said, snatching it from Ali’s hand and burning it in the candle flame. As the paper curled and turned to ash, the two of them watched the flame in silence for a while, neither one speaking.

Walk the right path, hold onto your faith. Don’t run from people, don’t run from relationships. Keep asking God/Allah, over and over. That’s when that person will finally cross your path” said Ali.

“Is there really a formula for this, Ali?” Nicole asked.

“Yes, there is. Be patient. You’ll learn it, in time” said Ali.

Nicole sat quietly for a moment, then asked Ali a strange question.

“I’m Christian. You keep telling me to ‘hold onto your faith.’ You’re Muslim — but you’ve never once told me to become one.”

“Nicole, didn’t God/Allah give you a mind of your own? He did. It’s wrong for a person to pick a faith just because someone else told them to. Why not look into the Bible, the Torah, the Quran yourself?” Ali said.

He fell silent for a moment, then added:

“Do you need someone’s permission to breathe? God/Allah gave you a mind — why not use it to search for yourself? Listen to your heart, think it through with your own reason, strengthen your soul — it will show you what’s true, Nicole.”

For a while, no one spoke. All that was left of the candle was a thin curl of smoke, scattered by the morning breeze. Nicole looked out at the horizon, where the sun was just beginning to rise over the sea.

Ali stayed quiet for a while too, then turned to face us, wearing that same thoughtful expression he always got.

“I have a couple of questions for you” he said.

We nodded silently — go ahead, we told him.

“Why do these kinds of practices target women more than anyone else?

And out of all women, why does it specifically target the wealthy ones?

I already know the answers. But do you?”

No one said a word; we just kept looking at Ali. He turned his eyes toward the sea, his voice dropping a little.

“Why does a person even need practices like this in the first place? And more importantly… is it really loneliness that pulls someone into this trap — or is it hope? Have you ever really thought about that?” he said.

No one answered. The sun had fully risen now, glittering across the sea, and Ali’s question just hung there in the air.
